Thank you for your interest the US Baseball Network concept. USBN is committed to providing the latest local up-to-the-minute resources for all things youth travel team baseball at the local level. While USBN is the name of the parent concept, each state within the Network is independently owned and run by a qualified individual who desires to serve as the primary source of information within their own state.

We have provided some initial information which will assist you with your consideration.

Who can own a Baseball Network? Normally the individual is already a key contact within that state for travel team baseball and has access to the resources necessary to populate the local website.

How does the Network work? USBN builds every Baseball Network website off of a proven template layout that is divided into two basic sections. The right menu is called the Members Dugout, in which the information there is reserved for subscribers (it includes tournaments, travel team directories, etc.). The left side of the page is open to the general public.

What is required to run a Baseball Network?

Web Authoring Experience: It is assumed that the owner will possess web authoring expertise or have direct access to the web authoring services of someone qualified to maintain the site on a regular basis. Since we build our sites with Macromedia Dreamweaver, we strongly recommend obtaining/using it for web authoring work. Having a good knowledge of how a web server works is also helpful.

How often would the site have to be updated? There are frequent updates that you will receive from your state teams and organizations that will need to be added to the site as soon as possible. Remember, you want this to be both a reliable and current source of information. This assures those considering joining the Members Dugout that the info they're getting is the very latest and is worth the subscription price.

How is revenue generated? Revenue is generally received from two areas on the Network, through the Members Dugout annual subscriptions and through advertising partnerships offered at various levels. It is the owner's responsibility to generate his or her own revenue. USBN is committed to sharing ideas that have worked in other states, but ultimately, it's up to the owner of the Network to make it work in his/her state. Other possible ways to generate revenue would be through offering online Tournament Services, Resource Directory listings, etc.

What if there is already a Network in my state? Feel free to contact the owner of that particular Network and inquire about purchasing the rights to the site. USBN will not build two Networks for one state except in instances where a Network has been abandoned.

What if I want a particular Network, but don't live in that State? It's a challenge to run a Network from another state effectively, but it can be done. It just takes a concerted commitment to stay on top of everything that's going on. Nothing can be more discouraging to an Internet user than clicking on a site that promises to be current on its info, only to find out that everything's out of date. To USBN, a good reputation is very important.

How did this all start? The Arizona Baseball Network (www.azbaseballnetwork.com), the 'granddaddy' of all the Networks, was launched four years ago and continues to grow and expand throughout the state. It is a proven concept that is now reaching out into other states at the local level.

How can I get more info? You can e-mail us with your inquiries and we'll respond as soon as possible.

Play Ball!
